About me:

Born in a Punjabi family that migrated to India from Lahore after the partition of India in 1947, I speak fluent Punjabi, understand Urdu, and read, speak and write fluently in Hindi, English and French. Given my multilingual and multicultural background, coupled with a B.A. degree in English literature from University of Delhi M.A. And M.Phil. degrees in French and Francophone Studies as well as M.A. in contemporary European cinema from Université de Perpignan, I am currently examining Indo-European film production culture through a Ph.D. in Transcultural Studies.

I am a cinéphile and appreciate world cinema. Some of my favourite films are She’s Gotta Have It, Do Bhiga Zameen (‘Two Acres of Land’), Bulbul Can Sing and Marriage Story. I also admire Urdu poetry and ghazals, and practice mindfulness daily for a balanced life.

My supervisor is Dr. Charles Tepperman and my co-supervisor Dr. Devika Vijayan.
