Fellowships

Latin American Studies Fellowship, 2006/2007.

Postgraduate Research Supervision

I am interested in directing PhD and Master's dissertations devoted to the analysis of audiovisual materials, and literary productions of Latin America and the Hispanic world, mainly, but not restricted to transnationalism, neocolonialism and diaspora studies, gender and ethnicity studies, the examination of material culture, social space, modes of representation and genres, aesthetics and auterism, performance and celebrity studies, among others.  I would also like to work with students interested in doing research on popular culture and cultural studies. My view on the study of literatures, popular culture, and audiovisual artefacts is comprehensive in that it understands literary texts, graphic novels, comics, telenovelas, TV series, and films as partaking of multiple discursive planes and practices, agents and actors, socio-political and cultural perspectives, among other factors.
