About Me

I am a Ph.D. student in Spanish. I received a B.A. from University of New Brunswick, and an M.A. from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and the University of Calgary. My research interests are medieval Iberian literature; Judeo-Spanish language and literature with a focus on Sephardic community of Sarajevo; cultural cosmopolitism in medieval Spain and the Ottoman Empire; feminist and gender theory; and women`s writing. My supervisor is Dr. Kenneth Brown. I was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II (Master`s Scholarship) in 2012-13, and the Queen Elizabeth (Doctoral Scholarship) in 2013-14 and 2016. I speak Bosnian, Spanish, and English.
I fell in love with the University of Calgary while completing my M.A. degree. In addition to having a supervisor who provides the liberty for me to choose the direction of my research, I consider myself lucky to be a part of a small student body which is closely knit and very supportive. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, as well as reading anything by Kate Chopin. My favourite film is Tarkovsky’s Solaris, followed by the movies of Alfred Hitchcock.
