About Me

I graduated in Philosophy from the Universidad de Sevilla, Spain. I am enrolled in the Ph.D. program. I chose the University of Calgary because it has a growing community of researchers and students. It is also located in a beautiful landscape, near the Rocky Mountains. I am mainly interested in twentieth-century fiction, and my thesis is focused on the short fiction of Chilean writer José Donoso (1925-1996), where he explored the topics of identity and its disguises. My supervisor is Dr. Luis Torres. A native Spanish speaker, I studied English for eight years. I also lived in France, so I am fluent in French. I learnt German towards the end of my Master’s, reaching a B1 level. I have received the Eyes High Doctoral Scholarship. Right my favourite novels are The hive, by Camilo José Cela, and The process, by Franz Kafka. The movies I think of now are Sunset Boulevard, by Billy Wilder, and Amanece, que no es poco, by José Luis Cuerda. My hobbies are writing, watching movies, and biking.
