I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Arts and majored in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at Northwest Normal University in China. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Calgary, and my research interest is the acquisition of Chinese as a Second Language.
I have been influenced by films and TV shows from different countries as I grew up. They have made me perceive the charm of different languages. I’m a native Chinese speaker and fluent in English, and I study a bit of Russian, Japanese, and Korean. These learning experiences help me develop a concrete perception of multiple languages. I chose the University of Calgary to pursue a higher degree due to its great academic atmosphere and resources, and I want to work with Dr. Wei Cai with my great desire.
In my leisure time, I listen to music and podcasts, and I enjoy reading and watching from different cultural perspectives. Cultural dynamics inspired me. Other hobbies of mine are cooking and dining out at new cafés.
