About Me

From a young age, I have always been fascinated by both language and literature. My family and I emigrated from Colombia in 2005, spending most of my life in Canada gave me the opportunity to acquire knowledge of several languages such as English, French and some Italian. I came to the University of Calgary as a transfer student from Mount Royal University. Having recently graduated with a double B.A in French and Spanish, I was able to acquire a variety of literary, linguistic, and cultural knowledge. In the last two years, I have distinguished myself academically, I have been on the Dean’s List 2021, I have twice obtained the Jason Lang Scholarship (2020 and 2021), and currently the Julio Peris Scholarship. Now I am pursuing a thesis-based M.A at the SLLLC. My research will focus on the representation of Latin America from the perspective of the French and Spanish travellers who arrived in the New World during the 17th century. Analyzing the discovery of a different world through the eyes of others is what inspires me to pursue M.A. During my free time, I like to paint and read.
