About me:

Neha Bhatia is a Ph.D. candidate in Transcultural Studies at the University of Calgary, Canada. Her research interests include production studies, film festival studies, contemporary independent and transnational cinema. She has co-organized graduate forums and presented at several international conferences. She is currently writing a dissertation about the transnational turn in India’s indie film production scene under the supervision of Dr. Charles Tepperman and Dr. Devika Vijayan. Her research received funding support through the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship.

Besides her academic work, she also works as a producer to amplify the voices of Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour through film and tv projects in Alberta. Through an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, she earned a Master's degree in Crossways in Cultural Narratives from three European universities: University of Sheffield, Université de Perpignan and Universidad de Santiago de Compostela.
