The ALLE project has culminated in the establishment of a comprehensive Language Research Centre in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Calgary.  Beginning in 2001, the Centre will take over ALLE's activities.

Led by Dr. Esther Enns, in collaboration with Dr. John Archibald and Dr. Brian Gill, the Language Research Centre is based in the two language departments of the University of Calgary (French, Italian & Spanish, and Germanic, Slavic & East Asian Studies) and in the Department of Linguistics.  It will undertake research on curricular, technological and cognitive aspects of language learning and continue ALLE's emphasis on professional development for second language teachers in Alberta at all levels, from beginner to advanced, K-12 to post-secondary.

The Language Research Centre gratefully acknowledges major funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and from the Province of Alberta's Intellectual Infrastructure Partnership Program.

Expect more news in the coming weeks.
