Fogolâr Furlan di Calgary Scholarship in Italian for Alberta Students

The Fogolâr Furlan di Calgary is one of sixteen similar associations in Canada whose founding members originate from the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy. One of the mandates of the association is the preservation of their language and, as such, they generously offer a scholarship to students of Italian in Canada.

The Fogolâr Furlan di Calgary's founding members emigrated from their homeland because they sought opportunity and advancement in a new country. They worked hard for the interests of their families and the pursuit of a post-secondary education was something sought for their children. Therefore, it is only fitting that they establish a scholarship that would promote education and financially assist students studying Italian.

The following criteria must be met for consideration:

  • An Alberta resident (either a permanent resident or a permanent resident studying full-time at a post-secondary

    outside the province).

  • Pursuing a major in Italian Studies

  • Be entering their final year (fourth) of undergraduate studies.

  • Committed to Italian culture.

  • Have achieved a GPA 3.0 or higher in previous year’s studies.

There is one award of approximately $1,500 that will be applied directly to tuition. The deadline to apply is June 30th at midnight. Interested applicants can go to the Calgary Foundation website and apply under Student Awards, or they can go directly to the award page.

Select ‘Apply Now’ at the top of the page to be redirected towards the scholarship portal. If you have any questions, or for more information, please contact the Calgary Foundation.
