About Me

I began my university career in New Mexico completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Spanish. Since then I have completed my Master’s Degree here at the University of Calgary, and I am currently in my second year in the Ph.D. program in Spanish literature. At the moment, I am working on 16th and 17th peninsular literature, focusing on the role of religion in literature during this period. My supervisor is Dr. Rachel Schmidt. I enjoy reading, and some of my favourite books are Don Quijote de la Mancha, Pedro Páramo, and El Coronel no Tiene Quien le Escriba. I also enjoy movies; two of my favourites are Los de Abajo and Mar Adentro. I was born and raised in Mexico City and I enjoy returning there during vacations to see my family and friends. I also enjoy studying here at the University of Calgary.
