Call for volunteer TAs in Japanese

Applications are now open for Winter 2017 volunteer TA positions in Japanese.

Non-Japanese students

Qualifications
  1. Available at least twice a week for the same class
  1. Responsible, friendly and sociable. Understand the TA role well and pro-actively take action during the class.
  2. At least a B+ average in Japanese classes
  3. Completion of JPNS 207.
  4. Name of one referee (from teachers in our Japanese program)
How to apply

Please email your resume and cover letter to Yoko Kodama (yykodama@ucalgary.ca  / Title: TA Volunteer position).

The cover letter must include all the information outlined in the “Qualifications” section. Please talk to one of the Japanese teachers who recommends you for this TA position and ask her/him to become your referee prior to submitting your application.

Note: If you have already worked as a TA in Fall 2016, you can omit your resume.  All you need is a brief cover letter stating why you would like to do it again, details of your availability, and the name of your referee, who should be the teacher who you worked for in Fall 2016. Please make sure that your referee gladly recommends you to work as a TA again prior to your application.

Japanese students

  2. Obtain one reference letter (from someone who knows you in a professional capacity such as your supervisor, coordinator, and teacher.)
How to apply

Please email your resume and cover letter to Yoko Kodama (yykodama@ucalgary.ca  / Title: TA Volunteer position).

The cover letter must include all the information outlined in the “Qualifications” section along with the reason why you would like to be a TA. Regarding the reference letter, you can bring it to Yoko Kodama’s office (CHC214) or SLLLC office (CHC205) in a sealed envelope or ask your referee to email directly to Yoko Kodama (yykodama@ucalgary.ca).
