Basic concepts of the Chinese National Language. Reading and writing of characters, essentials of grammar, basic vocabulary, and oral drills on normal speech patterns.
This course may not be repeated for credit.

- Enrollment in any higher level Chinese course requires a grade of at least "C-" in the prerequisite course(s), or consent of the Department. Not open to students with credit in Chinese 20, 25, 30 or 35.
